Bereits zum 16. Mal habe ich die Ehre und das Vergnügen, internationale
Gäste anlässlich unseres Gitarrenfestivals in Templin zu begrüßen. Das Kunstinstitut BAJA hat sich wieder bemüht, interessante und
qualitativ hochwertige Konzerte und Veranstaltungen für Sie zusammen zu stellen.
Zu den Schülerwettbewerben in drei Kategorien können wir in diesem
Jahr dank der Unterstützung durch das Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur noch eine vierte Kategorie hinzufügen: Gitarre und Melodieinstrument.
Dadurch öffnet sich das Festival noch weiter anderen Künsten, was unserem Grundanliegen entspricht.
Das Thema ist in diesem Jahr "Schiffe und Boote".
Wir versuchen wieder, diesem Thema durch Vielfältigkeit gerecht zu werden und haben sowohl das Hauff-Märchen "Das Gespensterschiff" als auch Shantys im Programm.
Das Kunstinstitut BAJA und Schüler aus der Region stellen sich vor unter dem Titel "Mit der Arche Noah fing alles an."
Ich wünsche allen Gästen interessante Tage bei uns und den
Wettbewerbsteilnehmern gute Nerven und viel Glück.

This is already the 16th time that I have the pleasure and the honour to welcome international guests on the occasion of our guitar festival in Templin.
The BAJA art institute has once more tried to organise concerts and events of high quality and of interest to you.
Thanks to the support of the ministry of science, research and culture, we are this year able to add a fourth category to the hitherto existing three categories of the pupils' contest. The new category, which is called
"guitar and melody instrument", promotes our basic concern to open the festival to other kinds of art.
Our this years topic is "ships and boats".
In order to satisfy this topic we have organised an interesting and
diversified programme which contains for example Shanties and the fairy tale "The Ghost Ship" by Wilhelm Hauff.
The BAJA art institute and its pupils will present themselves with the piece
"Mit der Arche Noah fing alles an." ("Noah's ark was at the beginning of everything.")
I wish some interesting days to all our guests and strong nerves and good luck to the participants of our contests.

Liebe Gitarrenfreunde,
unter den zahlreichen künstlerischen Initiativen in der Uckermark steht das Internationale Gitarrenfestival des Kunstinstituts BAJA e.V. für Kontinuität und beständige Erneuerung zugleich. Beides erwächst aus dem Konzept des Festivals.
Die Repertoireschwerpunkte zeitgenössische Musik und Improvisation sind wichtiger Bestandteil der Wettbewerbe und sorgen für eine lebendige, experimentierfreudige Musiktradition, die immer wieder um Neues bereichert wird.
Was das Festival aber besonders auszeichnet, ist die Interaktion zwischen renommierten Künstlern und der heranwachsenden Generation.
Neben dem künstlerischen Vortrag im Konzert wirken die Künstler als Juroren und Mentoren und stehen in Schüler-Lehrer-Gesprächen den Wettbewerbsteilnehmern unmittelbar mit ihrem fachlichen Rat zur Seite.
Das ist direkte Förderung und Motivierung begabter Kinder und Jugendlicher, die über die Möglichkeiten des Unterrichts an einer Musikschule bei weitem hinausreicht. So wird das Gitarrenfestival in jedem Jahr auch zum Forum für die unterrichtenden Musikschullehrer.
Als Schirmherrin des Internationalen Gitarrenfestivals freue ich mich besonders über die traditionelle Beteiligung von Schülern aus den benachbarten polnischen Regionen am Wettbewerb und die wachsende Nachfrage vor allem jüngerer Schüler.
In diesem Jahr bietet das Internationale Gitarrenfestival - unterstützt durch das Kulturministerium - eine neue Wettbewerbskategorie an: die
Begleitung der Gitarre durch ein Melodieinstrument. Diese Kategorie soll den Wettbewerbsteilnehmern noch mehr Anreiz bieten, das Spektrum ihrer musikalischen Fähigkeiten auszuloten.

Dear friends of the guitar!
Continuity and constant renewal are the special characteristics which mark the International Guitar Festival of the BAJA e.V. art institute among the numerous cultural initiatives of the Uckermark region. Both characteristics result from the festival's concept.
The focus on contemporary music and improvisation constitutes an essential part of the competitions and creates a vital and creative musical tradition which is constantly enriched by new ideas.
The most important characteristic of this festival, however, is the interaction between artists of great reputation and the adolescent generation. The artists do not only contribute to the festival by giving concerts, they also act as part of the jury and as mentors providing professional advice to the young participants.
This means direct promotion and motivation of talented children
and adolescents which goes far beyond what can be achieved at
a music school. Thus, the guitar festival also becomes a forum for teachers at music schools each year.
In my role as Patron of the International Guitar Festival, I am particularly pleased about the fact that, traditionally, pupils from the near Polish regions take part in the festival and about the growing demand especially on the part of younger pupils.
This year, the International Guitar Festival, which is supported by the ministry of culture, adds a new category to the competition: the guitar can be accompanied by a melody instrument. This category
is to motivate the participants of the competition to discover the scope of their musical abilities.
I wish good luck to the organizers of the festival, the participants of the competitions, the artists and members of the jury.

Roberto Aussel wurde in Buenos Aires geboren. Er erhielt mit 4
Jahren seinen ersten Gitarrenunterricht und gewann mit 13 Jahren
4 erste Preise bei nationalen Wettbewerben. Nachdem er auch international (1975 in Brasilien und Paris, 1976 in Venezuela) erste Plätze belegte, konzertiert er weltweit.
Er gehört zu den international namhaftesten Gitarristen.
Roberto Aussel was born in Buenos Aires. At the age of 4, he got his
first guitar lessons. When he was 13, he gave his first concert and won four prices in different national competitions.
After having won international prices (e.g. 1975 Brazil and Paris,
1976 Venezuela), he began to perform worldwide. Today he figures
among the most important guitarists of the world.

Uwe Kropinski ist einer der besten deutschen Jazzgitarristen weltweit.
Von der Presse wird er mit Superlativen überhäuft
("Jahrhundertgitarrist", "Gitarrenpaganini", "Glenn Gould der
Gitarre", "Jimmi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar".
Durch seine atemberaubende Technik und unerschöpfliche
Fantasie werden seine Konzerte immer wieder zu einem einmaligen
Erlebnis.
Uwe Kropinski is one of the best German Jazz guitarists worldwide. The press covers him with superlatives like "guitarist of the century",
"guitar paganini", "Glenn Gould of the guitar", "Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar".
It is his breathtaking technique and his inexhaustible imagination that make each of his concerts a unique event.

Wolfgang Praxmarer, geboren in Innsbruck, studierte dort bei Michael Schäffer und Hopkinson Smith. Als Lautenist und Continuo- Spieler ist er Mitglied einiger Ensembles für Alte Musik. Zusammen
mit der österreichischen Sopranistin Maria Erlacher und dem katalanischen Gambisten Pere Ros wurde er auch international bekannt. Er lebt in Innsbruck und ist als Leiter der Musik-Abteilung des ORF tätig.
Wolfgang Praxmarer was born in Innsbruck, where he studied with Michael Schäffer and Hopkinson Smith. As a lutenist and continuo player, he is a member of some ensembles for old music. Together with the Austrian Soprano Maria Erlacher and the Catalan player
of the viola da gamba Pere Ros, he also became known on an international level. He lives in Innsbruck and is the head of the ORF
(Austrian broad casting) music department.
